HISTORY
When the branch first formed many years ago its first venue was the Market Tavern pub in Stoneclough and then we relocated to the King William Pub in Edgeworth. The pub was owned by die hard city fans who also became committe members for the branch and saw membership increase to over 40 members brought in by special visits from then current city players such as Danny Tiatto. We then decided to seek a new venue which was the Beaumont Arms in Bolton, our members stayed loyal and with the influx of new blood the branch saw a surge in numbers.
We then moved to our current home at Horwich RMI which has proved to be a great venue for our branch. At our last meeting we had an incredible total of 20 new members which shows how far we have come in the past few years. We now have over 80 members with an age span of between 5 years old through to 70 years young!!!
This vast age spectrum is wonderful, as it gives us, a lovely family atmosphere and with the added bonus of tapping into some great knowledge about our beloved team.
MEETINGS
The branch always meets at 8pm on the first Wednesday of every month at Horwich RMI. The meetings usually last approximately 1hr and cover all topics relating to the club. We regularly have special guests attend our meetings by invitation, these nights are special and enjoyed by everyone. Recent guests include Mike Summerbee, Joe Corrigan, Ken and Peter Barnes, David White, Fred Eyre, Bernard Halford, Tommy Booth and many others. Our branch president, Gary Owen, has also attended meetings and we appreciate his support.
THE OFFICIAL SUPPORTERS CLUB (OSC)
The OSC was formed in 1949 and now has over 70 branches with a combined membership of just over 6,000 based in the UK and overseas. Membership is open to all those with a love of Manchester City Football Club.
Tony Book, former Captain and Manager of City is the Life President of the OSC. Tony accepted this role in the summer of 2006 following the death or Roy Clarke who had been our president for many, many years.
